A Pennsylvania product moves onto the staff’s radar.

Jahan Dotson is already a name that is known around recruiting circles. Ranked as a four-star recruit by the major databases, Dotson, a rising junior from Nazareth (Penn.), has a bevy of offers including Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Miami (Fla.), Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Southern Cal, and Texas A&M. That’s some pretty stiff competition for the South Carolina Gamecocks, who extended an offer to the 5’10”, 157-pound WR – his 24th offer. Dotson is certainly a player that makes his presence known wherever he plays on the field: as a sophomore, he racked up 66 catches for 1,179 yards and 16 touchdowns, while adding two kick returns for a touchdown and another one on the ground. Did we mention his four picks?

Dotson’s certainly a player to keep a watch on as his recruiting is set to explode even more if he puts together another solid season like the one he did this past fall. Although he played for a team that only went 6-6 last year, the fact that he’s getting so many big-time offers speaks volumes of his talent. And that last point is very notable, as well: Dotson will be playing for Peddie School in New Jersey in an attempt to boost his athletic and academic profile.

Fla. WR sets visit for this weekend

Phil Kornblut at SportsTalk is reporting that Orlando wide receiver MJ Jarrell will be in town this weekend for a visit. Jarrell, who ranks the Gamecocks “high on his list”, is expected to come out with a top ten later today.

Gamecocks land on Tallahassee corner’s top 8

Tavyn Jackson, a cornerback from Tallahassee, released his top eight on Tuesday and the Gamecocks are on the list. Jackson also announced in the same tweet that he will enroll early wherever he chooses to attend, so a decision should be expected soon after his OVs are completed this summer.

JUCO TE offer sets visits to Louisville

Jeremy Patton, a tight end from Arizona Western College, tweeted that he would be taking an official visit to Louisville from June 2-4. A visit to Arkansas has been already planned for June 16.

Hitting the road

Lance Thompson was hot on the trails yesterday as he was in Maryland on recruiting trips. The Gamecocks are looking to stake their claim in Maryland and maybe grab some recruits from D.J. Durkin and his staff. Currently, the team has one player from there on their roster: Jalen Christian (Damascus). Travaris Robinson was also out and about as he swung by Ben Lippen School in Columbia.
