Syracuse.com’s Stephen Bailey reports that former Syracuse Orange center Macky MacPherson will be returning to SU as a graduate assistant, pending admission as a student. MacPherson, grandson of long-time Orange coach Dick MacPherson, was a three-year starter at Syracuse from 2011-2013. During that time, the team won 20 games and two bowl games.
After failing to make it with the NFL’s Buffalo Bills, MacPherson was a graduate assistant with Louisiana Tech last season, and was hired for the same role at NC State this year. However, he’s always wanted to head back to SU.
Macky’s brother, Cam MacPherson currently plays tight end for Syracuse. Their grandfather, Coach Mac, was honored at the Carrier Dome last season.
Again, barring admission (seems pretty likely), he’ll be the fifth grad assistant on staff for 2016, joining Bart Tanski, Christopher Kirkpatrick, Lanear Sampson and Jesse Johnson. He’s the only one of those five to have received his undergraduate degree from Syracuse.

Welcome back, Macky! It’s great to see you in Orange yet again.
