FOOTBALL NEWS IN JUNE! I don’t know about you, but I’m salivating for any news when it comes to football. Fortunately, today we got tossed a bone with some kick off time announcements, so now we can fantasize about tailgating before a game this fall, and when we can start tailgating. Five game times have been announced for games this fall, including the first four of the season.

Utah will kick off the season on Thursday, September 1 at 6 pm against SUU on the Pac-12 Network. Utah will then host the rivalry game 10 games later at 5:30 pm on FOX. I don’t know if a rivalry has ever been broadcast on FOX, so that’ll be a little interesting, plus it’s an afternoon game. In week three, the Utes will travel to San Jose for a 8:30 pm kick off. Hopefully we won’t have many of these 8:30 or later kick offs. A big one the next week is on the books as Utah takes on USC at 7 pm at Rice-Eccles. Later in the season, Utah will play ASU in Tempe at 7:30 pm on a Thursday.

The rest of the games will be picked about a week in advance, as has been the norm.

SAN FRANCISCO -”The Pac-12 Conference has announced game times and television selections for the first three weeks of the 2016 football season, as well as all Thursday and Friday games. Five Utah games were picked for early selection, including home games against Southern Utah on Saturday, Sept. 1 (6 p.m. MT on Pac-12 Network), BYU on Saturday, Sept. 10 (5:30 p.m. MT on FOX) and USC on Friday, September 23 (7 p.m. MT on FS1).

Utah also learned the time and TV for road games at San Jose State on Saturday, Sept. 17 (8:30 p.m. MT on CBS Sports Network) and Arizona State on Thursday, Nov. 10 (7:30 p.m. MT on FS1).

Beginning with week four (Sept. 24) and extending through the rest of the regular season, game times and TV will be announced six to 12 days in advance. Every game involving a Pac-12 team will be televised this season and all of Utah’s games will be televised nationally.

The Pac-12 Football Championship game will be played at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., on Fri., Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. PT on FOX.
