The early enrollee will have to sit out a year if the Bears don’t grant his request and he decides to go through with his transfer.

The first potential defection from the current Baylor Bears roster is former Texas Longhorns wide receiver commit Tren’Davian Dickson, who flipped from the ‘Horns back to the Bears last fall and then enrollee early in Waco. He told GigEm247 that he has requested his release from Baylor and intends to transfer.

A consensus four-star prospect, the 5’11, 163-pounder originally committed to Baylor, then re-opened his recruitment before committing to Texas. However, with the looming coaching changes on the offensive side of the ball, Dickson flipped his commitment back to the Bears on November 9.

But now he wants to look elsewhere again as the scandal at Baylor continues to unfold. According to the report, Texas A&M is interested in the record-setting wide receiver, but Texas could be an option, too, especially since the Longhorns now run the same offense that Dickson practiced in this spring prior to the termination of Bears head coach Art Briles.

Dickson is now the seventh member of the 2016 Baylor recruiting class to request a release from the school, while No. 4 wide receiver Devin Duvernay is already on the open market after the Bears failed to submit his NLI to the Big 12 office.

Ranked as the No. 104 recruit nationally, Dickson was the No. 14 wide receiver and No. 14 player in Texas, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Dickson set the national record for touchdown catches in 2014 with 39 while accumulating 2,166 receiving yards on 90 catches.
