Well….

Let’s just go through a brief timeline of events for 3-star DT Darius Stills of Fairmont, WV.

4:48pm on Saturday, July 30th, 2016

Darius Stills commits to Rutgers after attending recruiting BBQ. All is good.

5:20pm on Saturday, July 30th, 2016

Darius Stills posts his official commitment announcement in writing with a fancy edit. All is good.

8:31pm on Sunday, July 31st, 2016

Out of the blue and 100% unwarranted, Darius Stills says he has made the best decision of his life to commit to Rutgers. No one expected him to say this, so we are led to believe his commitment is super strong. All is good.

12:14pm on Monday, August 1st, 2016

Darius Stills tweets out his official offer from Rutgers, as many recruits did, since today was the first day that schools could officially offer c/o 2017 recruits. Stills is very happy, his offer is now official, his commitment seems strong as ever. All is good.

1:40pm on Monday, August 1st, 2016

Darius Stills tweets out that he has been offered by his home state school, West Virginia. I can’t really talk shit about West Virginia since Rutgers has never beaten them, but this is a weak move by them. They most likely felt that since Stills was a legacy and not a very highly ranked recruit, he would just walk on and they could save a scholarship. Then, Dana Holgorsen realizes he actually needs to recruit legacies and blindly throws out an offer in order to not look bad when people want to know why he is losing in-state legacies to Rutgers. Now he has offered a player who clearly is not a take for West Virginia and put Darius Stills is a rough position. All is not well.

6:20pm on Monday, August 1st, 2016

Darius Stills tells us what we all knew when he was offered by WVU; he will not be attending Rutgers.

Positive Spin

Rutgers loses the lowest ranked player in the class and now there is room for both Fred Hansard and Cory Bolds. Hunt on, Chris Ash.
