Well it’s certainly been an interesting week for Baker Mayfield. The Sooner quarterback seemingly had all hopes shattered of playing for Oklahoma in 2017 after yesterday when the conference announced the schools split the vote for the “Mayfield Rule”, allowing walk-ons to transfer in conference without losing a year of eligibility. A 6-4 vote was needed to pass but it was 5-5 as of yesterday.

Then today the conference announced they were revisiting that vote, after a lot of backlash from the media and fans all over. And then this was reported today by George Schroeder :

So Sooner fans were all probably like this :

Then there was this :

Never change Baker Mayfield.

This is great news for the Sooners, who will now get to see two more years of Mayfield under center. He threw for 36 touchdowns and seven interceptions this past season while leading the Sooners to their first outright Big 12 title since 2010. He’s an elite player and has a chance to lead Oklahoma to their eighth national title these next two years after coming up just shy this season.
